New Zealand Associate Health Minister Nicky Wagner said of elektronik sigara:
[Electronic cigarettes] are about 95% less harmful than cigarettes.
E-cigarettes are expected to become legal sometime during the next year. As she listed the benefits of electronic cigarettes, Ms. Wagner also encouraged reporters at Parliament to try electronic cigarettes:
I have [tried vaping]. But I'm not very good at it but I don't smoke either. I suggest anyone who smokes here has a go at vaping, too.
The change is a huge win for the ecigarette industry - its products won't be forced into plain and unattractive packaging, nor will large taxes be levied on it, as is the case with normal cigarettes.
